EP Review: "Ruthless Thing" - Tom Mitchell

Hey guys,
I am finally going to review more music for you!

Today I will introduce you the "Ruthless Thing" EP by Tom Mitchell. Of course some bits of my own opinion are blended within.

Tom Mitchell, the singer/songwriter from Bristol (UK) with guitar experience of about 20 years has recently released his first solo EP called "Ruthless Thing".

When listening to his guitar skills it's no wonder Tom worked with artists like Duffy, The Cadbury Sisters, Juey and John Madden.

The "Ruthless Thing" EP is a personal and guitar based recording. Might sound simple but really is deep and a really great EP.

Tracklist:
 1) Ruthless Thing
2) Only Party There
3) Hammock
4) From Experience
5) He Forgot To Check His Heart In At The Door

And now here's the track by track review:

RUTHLESS THING:
The opener and title track of the EP. A catchy song that makes you tap your foot to the rhythm.
The guitar playing and soft vocals are the perfect combination.

ONLY PARTY THERE:
The second song of the EP has got a mysterious sound to it. The soft lead and backing vocals transport the sad meaning of the lyrics.
Very enjoyable instrumental parts.

HAMMOCK:
An uplifting, western, folk inspired melody leads you throughout the whole song and builds up towards the end.
Interesting
lyrics will get you thinking.

FROM EXPERIENCE:
The really folky vibe makes me just want to get up and dance like mad. Tom's great vocal job, the A+ guitar playing and the catchy lyrics make this song my favourite.
"From Experience" really stands out.

HE FORGOT TO CHECK HIS HEART IN AT THE DOOR:
A storytelling ballad which starts slowly but builds up and floats into a beautiful melody after the first chorus.

To sum it all up:
a great EP made of hard work and love. I recommend every acoustic and guitar lover to have a decent listen.
