Hey guys!
IT'S OUR FIFTH BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!
As the photo above shows, I actually made a cake and bought a "number 5" candle.
Yes, I am that weirdo who celebrates their website's birthday like an actual birthday.
Go ahead and judge me.
I don't quite know how to start this post, to be completely honest.
Five years ago, a concert left me feeling so inspired, that I had to tell everyone about it.
After boring my friends with the story for the fourth time, I decided to find a new audience.

Five years ago, a concert left me feeling so inspired, that I had to tell everyone about it.
After boring my friends with the story for the fourth time, I decided to find a new audience.
And so I started my very own blog.
The name, "house in the sand", comes from a line of one of my favourite songs.
"Wrong Directions" by Martin and James.
Within the first year of blogging, I wrote about everything. From purses to lipsticks, to my pets and my favourite songs.
Soon I realised I had the most fun writing about music. And so I dipped my toes into the unknown territory that is music journalism.
A few months later, after graduating from school, I started to study journalism.
And all my time off was spent building this website and learning more about the industry.
house in the sand is the most important project of my life.
It has allowed me to find my voice and to use it,
to discover my passions, my strengths and my weaknesses.
It gave me a chance to figure out my priorities.
It let me realise what creativity means to me.
It taught me how to focus on positivity.
It made me feel confident about myself and my skills.
It made me find support in the most unexpected places,
it made me find support in the most desired places.
It allowed me to make friends who inspire me.
It made me find support in the most unexpected places,
it made me find support in the most desired places.
It allowed me to make friends who inspire me.
It allowed me to travel.
It allowed me to find peace in stressfulness.
It always filled my iPod with great new music.
It became my online home.
And I'm incredibly proud of everything we've done in the past five years.
So today is a very special day for me.
Unfortunately my internet crashed and I had to re-upload today's video.
It's taking a total of 10 hours (thanks to the worst internet connection), so it's not online yet.
It will be embeded right here as soon as it's online.
Of course we'll also be sharing it on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, so keep an eye on that.
So sorry about this.
But I can promise you it's a fantastic video.
Now, how do I wrap this up?
By saying thank you, I guess.
Thank you to everyone who ever made the decision to visit house in the sand.
Thank you to everyone who actively supported us.
Thank you to everyone who submitted their music.
Thank you to everyone who worked with us.
Thank you to all the labels, PRs, managers who spent time organising things for us.
Thank you to all the musicians we have ever featured.
Thank you to my talented team.
Thank you to my friends who always cheer for us.
Thank you to every follower on social media.
