Interview: Carrie Lane

Hey guys!

It's been a while since the last interview. But I'm back in my curious "let's ask everyone thousands of questions"-mood - so let's let the interview season begin and jump right into it.

Carrie Lane is a pop singer from New York City, US. The original New Jersey girl auditioned for and got the leading role Wendy in Peter Pan. While being just four years old.
What started as theatre performance lead into playing covers and finally writing and recording own songs.
With her music she wants to express herself and tell people about the world from her point of view.

Besides being in the music industry, Carrie is also part of the model business. With the looks and the talent for it she became the face of Bangz, won prizes and signed a contract with MSA Modeling Agency.

And today she talks about both of her passions and even more.
 Enjoy!

Gig Tips - April 2014

Hey guys,

April is right around the corner and offers a few (a ton) of great gigs to visit.

And I made it my secret mission to point those gigs out to you so you can go and have a splendid time enjoy the music.
So I'm going to share a few tour dates with you of gig I am going to or would visit.

YouTube Channel Trailer

Hey guys,

first of all - it's Spring - that's why I chose this beautiful icon. I'm very excited about Spring. (and that's something you absolutely needed to know ... right?)

Videos became a really big part of house in the sand and I enjoy learning more about how to use this kind of media in a good way.

To be honest, I used to absolutely refuse to use videos on my blog as I wanted to share things with you just by writing but let's be realistic - everybody loves video impressions.

And if you want to blog videos - YouTube is a brilliant platform to upload your work.
Getting more into social media I discovered these things they call "channel trailers" (short videos that sum up the content of your videos).

Of course I had to make one for house in the sand. Watch it now.

Hey guys,

over the last few weeks I decided to bring my writing back to the roots.
No, that does not mean I'm going to start fangirling in blogposts again, and also I'm not going to get back to my really horrible writing. Don't worry, you're still safe!

But I would like to give more personal insights again and still share professional stuff with you.
Sounds confusing, is confusing but hey, let's give it a try.

So today you can find out what it's like when I work at gigs as Vanessa from house in the sand.
(Please notice that there is a lot of work before you go to gigs. I can write about that in another post if you'd like me to.)

Spotlight On: Pawns or Kings

Hey guys,

I think I've mentioned it a few times - I love rock music.
But it's not the only genre I love. (Hey, I'm a music blogger - it'd be a shame if I only enjoyed one genre!)
The other genre (of many more) I really enjoy listening to is acoustic/folk. I love how it can be calming yet still very lively and not monotonous.

It's not a genre thing when lyrics are great, but thoughtful, philosophical lyrics really match the acoustic/folk sound.

And today I'd like to introduce you to a band called Pawns or Kings who absolutely represent that kind of music.

March Playlist

Hey guys,

it's been way too long since I last posted a playlist.
I can't even remember when that was.

You requested a new one, so here we go.
I went on soundcloud and created this set so you can listen to all songs I talk about. Hope that's cool.

(Also - you can find some free downloads. ;) But if you like a song, I really suggest buying it.)

But today I'd like to review the EP "New Monster Invasion" by Panic Tree.

HITS exclusive: "I Hope You Know" by Jim Kroft

 photo JK_zps0967c330.jpg

Hey guys,

the Birthday Countdown might be over, but that doesn't mean we can't have exclusive performances, right?

The absolutely wonderful Jim Kroft took some time to record a live performance for us.
His sound can be classified as indie-rock with pop and acoustic elements. It's never too much of one genre.
He has released three albums so far and is currently working on his fourth one, recording in Berlin and London.

If you'd like to know more about Jim Kroft, here's a more detailed write up I did.

Concert Impressions: Martin and James

 photo IMG_6418_zps3cc7908f.jpg

Hey guys,

I'm finally able to release the last part of the impressions I got during two Martin and James gigs in February.
(The amount of material I had was just too much for one write up.)

Today you get to see tons of photographs and the last of the three videos I did.
Martin and James let me photograph them from stage which is something I'm super thankful for since I'm really small and always take "up the skirt" shots.

So here we go, I hope you enjoy the photos, the videos and my comments. ;)

Concert Review: Tom Odell // LKA Stuttgart, 6th March 2014

Hey guys,

I got to photograph Tom Odell in concert again.

Tom Odell is a singer/songwriter from England plays piano and sings - that leads to piano based music which you could classify as pop with loads of different elements.
His career started rolling when he won the Brits Critics Choice Award before even having an album out.
Nonetheless, his debut album "Long Way Down" which hit stores in June 2013, went to number one in the UK.

The singer/songwriter seems to be touring non-stop and this time he played in Stuttgart. The venue "LKA" was larger than I expected and definitely a well organised one. Big ups to the security!

So here's my little review, filled with way too many photos.

Soundcheck with Martin and James

 photo IMG_6350_zps775214bc.jpg

Test ... test ... one ... two. One two one two.

Hey guys,

just wanted to make sure the mics are working.
We're in the middle of soundcheck with Martin and James.

Well, not exactly. But during their last tour they kindly let me sneak in early to collect some impressions for you.
I did some bits of filming which you'll find in the video down below and of course I took photographs.

Watch Out For: Jim Kroft

Hey guys,

a month ago the concert season 2014 finally kicked off for me.
And the first gig of the year was a Jim Kroft one, means I had a great time.

If you are not familiar with Jim Kroft, this post will help you to find out more about one of the most interesting artists around.
