Video Of The Day: "My Mistake" by Gabrielle Aplin

Hey guys!

When you really think about it,
music is a pretty constrasty medium.

The creative process can be a very isolated matter for the artists,
yet in some cases the songs they often write alone will be heard by thousands if not millions of people.
Songs they write about not feeling well,
can often be the songs that help others to feel better.

You see my point; music is special and unpredictable.
But isn't that why we love it?

Today we're pretty sure you'll walk away from this post with a song on repeat,
so let's get into it.

- Video Of The Day -
"My Mistake" by Gabrielle Aplin

Gabrielle Aplin is one of those musicians who sprinkle everything with pure magic.

Ever since we heard her debut album, "English Rain", we've been hooked by her sound.
Her sound is ever-changing but always staying true to her roots, the singer/songwriter elements inspired by artists such as Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills & Nash.

With her follow-up, "Light Up The Dark", the musician from Bath, UK proved that she's capable of more elements, showcasing her rock-pop side.
After touring all over the world and playing festivals, Aplin shared her more pop focused EPs "Miss You" and "Avalon", allowing her listeners to be a part of her evolution.

What makes Aplin such an exceptional artist, is her talent for writing relatable and honest lyrics paired with the most gorgeous melodies you've heard.

Her new single, "My Mistake", proves just that.

"My Mistake" combines delicate vocals with dark piano notes.
It highlights the strength it takes to be open and vulnerable. It's graceful and dignifying while it is honest about struggling, allowing the listener to relate, to feel validated, to not feel alone.

The structure of the song is as beautiful as it is moving; the first chorus and verse are kept simple and calm, focusing on Gabrielle's vocals and the piano accompanying her. This gives us enough time to really dive into the song and focus on the personal lyrics Gabrielle shares with us.

During the second verse we start hearing suble backing vocals and soft string arrangements which underline the atmosphere of the track. What stands out is how you don't find a lot of different elements in the track, yet it's anything but monotonous.

Right after the second chorus we dive into the depths of the song, Aplin's vocals are getting more powerful and expressive with each chord, really transporting the emotions through her voice.
"My Mistake" ends on a calm note again and leaves us feeling understood and slightly more optimistic.

Gabrielle says about the track, "I'm really excited to release 'My Mistake'. I've always found writing a therapeutic escape from real life, but this song gently forced me to be brutally honest. This is a song about finding a strange sense of comfort in admitting to yourself that you're not feeling 100% and completely owning it."

Video Of The Day: "Movement" by Hozier

Hey guys!

Although I'm a music blogger and "have to" listen to new music during my work hours,
I actually am a very boring music listener in private.

And I don't mean boring as in I only listen to boring music,
but I actually have a handful of artists I listen to on repeat.

One of those acts is Hozier.
His music has been on my playlist ever since I heard "Cherry Wine" in 2014.

So, today I'm extra thrilled to chat about Hozier's new track, "Movement".

- Video Of The Day -
"Movement" by Hozier

Usually this is the part of the post in which we introduce you to the artist, but I'm pretty sure that Hozier doesn't need introduction.

So, let's dive right into the song and video.

Now, I'm not going to lie, "Nina Cried Power" is a song I don't think I'll ever get over.
Hozier's latest EP once again proved why a lot of people think of him as the songwriter of a generation.

And with "Movement", his brand new single, Hozier is once again, back at his best.
The song starts off calm, with a drum beat and the classic Hozier clapping, a combination you can find in a lot of his tracks.
Both, the first and the second verse are kept simple, relying on only the drums, the percussions, the keys and Hozier's vocals.

This simplicstic arrangement prepares you for the chorus which consists of the same elements, yet they sound bigger.
In fact, it is Hozier's voice that controls the intensity of the first and second chorus,
before the third and final chorus practically explode and just grab you.

The beautiful thing about Hozier is that you can love him for his lyrics, his arrangements, as well as his voice. Each element has its' very own purpose.

In the video we see the brilliant dancer Sergei Polunin, whose resume is more than just impressive.
In 2015 he released a video of his dance routine to Hozier's "Take Me To Church" which blew everyone's minds.
In "Movement" he convinces with not just one role, but three - leaving us completely speechless.

To see these two exceptional artists collaborate is so powerful, so make sure you don't miss out on this masterpiece.

Video Of The Day: "Too Smooth" by Jane Ellen Bryant

Hey guys!

How much time do you spend watching music videos?

For me... it's probably a lot of time because it's part of finding the music we introduce to you.

But the more time I spend on watching all those videos, the more I appreciate the details and storylines.
And I think it's important to celebrate great videos just as much as the songs.

So much time goes into the planning, editing, directing, filming, set building, etc. - so our VOTD feature is here to pay the respects all these amazing videos deserve.

- Video Of The Day -
"Too Smooth" by Jane Ellen Bryant

Jane Ellen Bryant is a singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas (US).

Her sound marches on the fine line between Pop, Americana and "heartbreaking rock'n'roll" and is inspired by powerhouses such as Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt and Sara Bareilles.

Jane's voice is as unique as her songwriting - both elements stand out from the very first time you listen to one of her tracks.
Her latest EP, "Let Me Be Lost", is the kind of EP you just need to add to your playlist.

Her new video for "Too Smooth" is now here to get us all grooving.

Jane Ellen Bryant's vocals in "Too Smooth" lull you in and don't let go of your attention.
Which is honestly fine, because her voice is an absolute delight to listen to.

The song has a vintage-y vibe to it which is reflected perfectly in the music video.

Jane's vocals lead you through the track, whilst the electric guitar is here to guide you attention back and forth between vocals and instrumentals.
It's the layers that make the track stand out with such grace; they keep you excited with every listen because you know you'll find an element you hadn't noticed during the previous listen.

And just like the song itself, the video keeps you entertained throughout.
Fun sets, vintage-glam outfits and bubblegum colours are here to brighten our day.

Video Of The Day: "Half As Good As You" by Tom Odell (feat. Alice Merton)

Hey guys!

There are SO many iconic collaborations out there which have happened over time.

Whether that's Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe" (it's iconic, okay?), Grease's "You're The One That I Want" performed by Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta (a CLASSIC) or a more recent example - Eminem and Beyoncé's "Walk On Water" (controversial, but definitely a big one).

There's just something exciting about two artists combining their sounds and creating a united piece of art.
Maybe I'm just overly nerdy when it comes to that, but I really love listening to collaborations.

Lucky me, because I get to share one with you today and I'd love to know what you think!

- Video Of The Day -
"Half As Good As You" by Tom Odell featuring Alice Merton

When I heard about their duet, I immediately couldn't wait to hear how their voices would mix together.

Both, Tom Odell and Alice Merton, have very strong and very attention-grabbing voices, which is why I think this song is such a powerful one. It's not your average "voices blend together so smoothly" kind of duet (and hey, there's nothing wrong with those! At all!).

Instead, you have two powerful voices that both demand your attention.
They tell the story of feeling heartbroken over somebody who isn't part of your life anymore, while trying to find somebody just like them.

The way the voices duet with each other and the piano creates an absolutely enchanting and slightly dramatic dynamic.
Although the lyrics are sad, the song is an absolute delight to listen to.

Video Of The Day: "Oh River" by Hannah Grace

Hey guys!

If you could relive or change any moment in your life, what would it be?

That's exactly the question Hannah Grace made the theme of her new music video.

So I would like to ask you - what moment would you relive or change?

I probably wouldn't change things, afterall every step in life leads us somewhere, so I'd like to think that the past has done alright for the present.
However, there are a lot of moments I would like to relive.
To keep this interesting for you, I'll pick one you might be familiar with.

If I could relive any moment of my blog life, I'd relive our house in the sand gig in Berlin.
It was honestly my favourite day and night of running the blog and even now it still blows my mind.

Thankfully we have this video which allows me to relive it in some way.

Now that we've gotten a little emotional, let's get even more emotional and watch Hannah's new video!

- Video Of The Day -
"Oh River" by Hannah Grace

Hannah Grace is a singer/songwriter from South Wales.

Her variety in sounds is just as wide as the spectrum of influences that inspire the young musician.
Drawing inspiration from incredibly talented female artists such as Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks and Florence Welsh, it's no surprise that Hannah's sound varies from Folk, to Soul, to Jazz with sprinkles of Pop and Rock.

Her tremendous talent soon caught Gabrielle Aplin's attention, whose label, 'Never Fade Records', Hannah is now signed to.

Over the years Hannah released her debut EP "Meant To Be Kind", toured with Gabrielle Aplin and supported Irish phenomenon Hozier, played countless festival sets and released her well received EP "Mustang" in 2016.

Her brand new single, "Oh River", is the first single off of Hannah's upcoming debut album and follow-up to her last release,
"Praise You" - Hannah's version of Fatboy Slim's track, which was chosen for Lloyds Bank nationwide campaign, subsequently sold in excess of 50k copies and was played on BBC Radio 2.

"Oh River" is an attention-grabbing and breath-taking track.
It has a simple feeling to it, but wins you over with so much depth and detail - making it impossible to not fully commit to the song.

The main elements, piano, strings and Hannah's powerful vocals, seem to melt together into one of the moving tracks we've heard in a while.
It's a song you'll most likely have on repeat, feeling the need to discover all the little details and layers. The songwriting, as well as the production allow you to sink into a dream world and give you the chance to go on a journey of emotions.

The video was filmed in Manchester and London and sees members of the public answering the question "if you could relive or change any moment in your life, what would it be?"

Hannah says about the video; "I wanted this music video to feature real people and to highlight the beauty in both the big and small moments in life. I was so overwhelmed with how open and honest people were with us. I'm so grateful to everyone who shared their amazing stories."

Video Of The Day: "Walking On Fire" by LOWES

Hey guys!

I guess one of the biggest joys of being a music fan,
is discovering pure talent.

There is so much of it out there and whenever we get to hear about another talented band or another talented solo act, we get all excited and type up something on here.

Considering that house in the sand is our own archive of music we love - and isn't that cool?
It makes me so happy, that you guys join us and allow us to share those exiciting finds with you.

So instead of risking another super emotional and cheesy intro by moi, let's dive into the music.

- Video Of The Day -
"Walking On Fire" by LOWES

LOWES are a four piece from Lancaster, UK.
Their sound combines Indie and Pop with hints of Alternative and a whole lot of uniqueness.

The band met in Lancaster's local scene just a little over 18 months ago and soon started writing, recording and producing songs together. Releasing their debut single "Awake At Night" themselves, the band quickly got a lot of attention and recognition.

LOWES are:
Evie Plumb
Jamie Walker
Luke Paget
Oliver Kane

They first released, "Here We Are", the first track off of their upcoming debut EP "Elements".
LOWES directed the video for it, wrote the concept and shot all scenes themselves, creating a music video that couldn't represent the band better if it tried.

Later on they shared their second single "If You Leave Me Now", a mesmerizing ballad which has had us speechless.

And now, they are here with their new music video for "Walking On Fire",

so let's check it out.

"Walking On Fire" is an expressive, powerful and controlling track.

Controlling, because it controls your attention and does not let go of it.
It's one of those songs that can't be played in the background, just because it demands your full attention - and you'll gladly provide it with such.

An element that makes you recognise LOWES almost immediately is the rhythmic guitar paired with the guiding drums.
Those elements seem to be the red thread that is woven through the choruses and verses and they allow you to sink into the familiar feeling of the LOWES experience.

Piano, bass and lead guitar work together to surprise you every now and then, all of course without throwing you off of the wave you're riding.

And Evie's vocals are the leading force that tie everything together, always controlled and always expressing emotions aplety.

Video Of The Day: "Borderline" by Madeline Juno

Hey guys!

It's New Music Friday - and boy, we're busy over here, trying to get all the posts out there for you.
Talk about keyboards being on fire!

The first track we want to share with you is pretty special because of many aspects.
Number one being that it is a German song.
Yeah, that doesn't happen often on HITS, I know.

When I started the blog in 2012, my English was nowhere close to where it is today, but I've always written in English. I love that this language allows us to connect with more people and honestly, sometimes I just find more English words than German words.

And pretty much 99.9% of the music I listen to is in English.
The other 0.1%? They're Madeline Juno.

As of now, she's the only German singing artist I listen to - and today I'd like to invite you to listen to her music, even if you might not understand it.

- Video Of The Day -
"Borderline" by Madeline Juno

Madeline Juno is a singer/songwriter, originally from Offenburg, Germany - now based in Berlin, Germany.

Her sound marches into quite a few directions; you can definitely spot the main element which is a glowy Pop sound, yet you'll easily spot the melancholy of Folk music and the intensity of Electro beats.

Madeline's parents are both musicians, which makes it no surprise to hear she started making music at a very young age.
At the age of 14, the young musician uploaded her first video to YouTube.
Her talent, work ethic and the honesty of her music have gotten her multiple support slots.
All of that led to Madeline building herself a loyal and growing international fanbase.

Her song "Error" made it onto the soundtrack of a German movie.
She later presented another single of her's at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.

Ever since, Madeline has released three albums - "The Unknown", "Salvation" and her latest record, "DNA".

Once you see her live and listen to the stories behind her songs, you can't help but appreciate her refreshing way of putting relatable emotions into songs.
She's outspoken, she's honest and she's absolutely great at it.

And today she's here with a brand new track - "Borderline", so let's check it out!

"Borderline" deals with mental health and the ups and downs a lot of us experience.
The 'all or nothing' mindset is something many people can relate to, but many times don't know how to vocalise.

Well, Madeline can.
Her writing skills are on another level and seem to climb up another five steps with every song she releases.
She's eloquent, knows how to express feelings in a way that you can feel them yourself and always does it in such grounded manner.

From what I see in my friendship groups and in myself, I know that this song is going to hit home with a lot of us.

The production of the song is so well suited; the lyrics are the main element of the track and take the lead, allowing us to focus on the meanings.
However, the instrumentals are anything but dull.
Subtle beats underline the words, giving them even more depth.
The soft synths bring that extra bit of grip and tie all elements together so smoothly.

So, whether you actually understand German or not, I have a feeling you'll enjoy this track, so give it a go and let us know what you think!

Video Of The Day: "Here We Are" by LOWES

Hey guys!

"Go on a walk, soak in a bit of nature" - I think that's the number one tip we all receive when we tell people that we're stressed out.

Whether you're a fan of mother nature or not, you'll probably know that there is something so soothing and reassuring about being surrounded by trees and flowers and clean air.

Because I have a horse to look after, I'm out in nature every day and it always feels like a mini-break from stress and anxiety.

In case you can't make it out into nature today, let us bring nature and its calmness to you;
with today's video, we present you everything you need to listen to on a hectic day.

But if you wanted to discover more music this year, consider us your friend trying to hold you accountable for your achievements.
We're here to present you music that we think you'll love.

So if you need music to listen to in the gym, or some background tunes whilst you're drinking more water or getting more sleep - glad you're here, we're happy to be your source.

Today's VOTD falls under the category "songs to lose yourself in".
Now might also be a good time to hydrate, babes - so grab some water and get ready to jam.

- Video Of The Day -
"Silver Screen" by Novatines

Novatines are a four piece from Bath, UK.

They are new, they are loud and they are ready to take over.
None of the statements above are exaggerated - and you will figure that out yourself as you get to know the band.

Novatines are:

Jamie Beale
Tom Cory
Callum Moloney
 Tom Turner

So far they've played a bunch of gigs throughout the UK, built a passionate fan base and kept us hungry for more.

March 2018 will see the band touring the UK, so make sure to head over to their website for all tour dates.

Their debut single "Medicine" was the rock song you needed in your life and now they're here with their new track and video "Silver Screen".

The song greets you with a mysterious atmosphere, sounding light and calm at first - but don't let first impressions fool you.
A few seconds into the song, the vocals let you know that you're about to fall in love with the depth of the song.
As backing vocals join the mix, it becomes apparent just how many layers there are to this track.

The lead vocals guide you through the verse and chorus with confidence, all while the guitar strumming gives us a false impression of calmness, showcasing the band's ability to keep their listeners surprised.

Once the first chorus ends, the big Rock'n'Roll explosion happens and we're catapulted into the Classic Rock era and we're here to stay.

Novatines know how to bring class and atmosphere to your ears and they do it so well.
The soaring guitars, the steady and controlling drums and the heavy bass paired with the leading vocals - all elements just work together so smoothly.

We know you guys around here love Rock music, so take the song and let it be your song of the day.

Video Of The Day: "Second Hand Lovers" by Oren Lavie

Hey guys!

Music videos - they're incredibly important and they don't get enough recognition.

We've become a society that is so fast paced, that it takes a lot for us to just sit down and spend three to five minutes to focus on a visual piece of art.

Of course, of course, I know you can't generalize humanity - this is just an observation.
Even I'm guilty of it.

But there are those videos that just deserve all of our attention, simply because they are beautiful, expressive and will make you think.

So that's why we're here to present you another VOTD - not only do we hope you're going to enjoy it, but actually we are sure you will.

- Video Of The Day -
"Second Hand Lovers" by Oren Lavie

Oren Lavie is a musician from Tel Aviv, Israel.

His music is inspired by literatur and classical composers which leads to very elegant sounds, labeling Oren's music as Alternative.

The musician started writing songs before he even learned how to play the piano, which is now his main musical companion.
You could consider his career a very organic process as one thing led to the other.

At the age of 22, Oren spent a lot of time in London where he studied theater, wrote and directed multiple plays and also write the music for them.
He also lived in New York, Berlin and Los Angeles.

Besides writing plays and music, he also published a children's book and wrote music for the film "Narnia: Prince Caspian".

In May 2017 he released a brand new album - "Bedroom Crimes". All songs were recorded on his own piano and the record was produced by Oren himself.

"Second Hand Lovers" as a song, is an incredible piece of art itself.
The elegant strings, the softly humming acoustic guitar and Oren's raspy but calm vocals, all create a beautiful scene. If one thing, this song makes you want to lay down and watch the clouds pass by.

The music video is just as stunning and might leave you speechless.
Oren won the award for Best Music Video at the Miami Short Film Festival last year before the video was even released.

As soon as you press play, you will dive into the world of Oren Lavie.

His music paired with his visuals create a powerful and expressive package, winning you over with depth and endless creativity.
The way the video is directed and shot shows you just how much thought and effort was put into it.

We honestly recommend watching the video and let it enchant you.

Video Of The Day: "Paradise" by George Ezra

Hey guys!

2014 was a big year for house in the sand - and it was big for music in general.
We got to watch a lot of UK based acts take over and found a lot of exciting artists.

One of them was George Ezra - the young singer/songwriter with a voice that can turn heads.

I remember having his debut album on repeat for quite a long time and whenever I hear one of his songs nowadays, I keep getting more excited for his upcoming songs.

And I'm sure I'm not alone.

And if you feel just the way I feel - I have good news for you
- he's back!
And boy, he brought some tunes!

Are you ready to hear his brand new track?

- Video Of The Day -
"Paradise" by George Ezra

George Ezra is a singer/songwriter from Bristol, UK.
His sound mixes Blues with Soul-Pop and Acoustic-Folk here and there.

George studied at the Institute of Modern Music in Bristol and has been making music for a while.

In 2012, he played BBC Introducing, after his song "Angry Hill" was picked by BBC Bristol.
In 2013, George played at Glastonbury and released his debut EP "Did You Hear The Rain?" on which you can find his mega hit "Budapest".

Another EP ("Cassy O'", 2014) and a debut album ("Wanted On Voyage", 2014) later, George Ezra had made himself a name and was considered one of the most exciting newcomers.

Last year he give us a preview of the new album with his anthem "Don't Matter Now", which - along with brand new single "Paradise" - can be found on his upcoming album, "Staying At Tamara's" - out on March 23rd.

His latest single "Paradise" greets us with an upbeat and steady drum beat and an acoustic guitar that goes straight for the dancing shoes.
Of course, George's vocals are still a highlight - the deep and bluesy voice leads us through the verse and surprises us with some high notes in the pre-chorus.

The chants in the verses and middle 8 make the song fun and give it a very carefree vibe which

"Paradise" is that kind of song that will take your Winter blues and put it away.

It's fun, it's upbeat and it's going to make you feel like it's Summer - and let's be real, we're all ready for those warmer days, aren't we?

Well, "Paradise" will take us there for a little less than four minutes, so enjoy the ride.

Video Of The Day: "Medicine" by Novatines

Hey guys!

The other day nostalgia called and we hung out together,
watching music videos from the early 2000s.

It was glorious.

And as cool as it was to see those videos and the way they were shot,
I really found new appreciation for today's videography and editing softwares.
Everything's just a lot cooler, although I don't want to bad mouth the past - man, it's been great.

But let's focus on the year 2017 - and it's fabulous music videos.

- Video Of The Day -
"Medicine" by Novatines

Novatines are a five piece from Bath, UK.

They are brand new, they are loud and they are ready to take over.
None of the statements above are exaggerated - and you will figure that out yourself as you get to know the band.

Novatines are:
Jamie Beale
Tom Cory
Callum Moloney
Ben Lythe
Tom Turner

So far they've played a bunch of shows, built a passionate fan base and kept us hungry for more.

Luckily we didn't have to wait long until they released their music video for their debut single, "Medicine".

Just like the song, the video is vibrant, attention-grabbing and just extremely cool.

The band just knows how to combine visuals and sounds and make them blend into one damn exciting experience.
We might've said it before, but we just have to say it again - keep an eye on this band and you'll see a band blow up.
It's just a matter of time.

Video Of The Day: "Grin And Bear It" by Ava Rae Heatley

Hey guys!

We love music videos that tell a story and act like the perfect visualisation for the songs.

Songs are such powerful tools to express certain emotions or maybe even address issues - but paired with an expressive music video, you have the ultimate combination.

Those kinds of videos are what inspired us to start a segment dedicated to music videos - and the amount of great videos is exactly what keeps us going.

So, here we are - with another music video we love.

- Video Of The Day -
"Grin And Bear It" by Ava Rae Heatley

Ava Rae Heatley is a singer/songwriter from Warwick (New York), USA.

Her sound is influenced by artists such as Sara Bareilles, Ben Folds and Elton John - creating a Pop/Rock meets Acoustic sound.

Ava started out playing at local coffee shops such as Caffe A La Mode in Warwick and Music at the Mission in New Jersey, where she's the winner of the open mic competition.

She has also been 95.3 DNH's "Discovered Artist of the month" in June 2017 which led to her song "Good For You" being played on their station for the entire month.

Her debut EP "The Drive" won us over by storm and we've been loving Ava's sound ever since.

Ava's latest single, "Grin And Bear It" speaks for itself but convinces even more with a relatable and expressive music video, which we think you need to watch today.
It represents struggles which I'm pretty sure you can relate to at one point or another.

"Bad Behaviour" welcomes you with a super catchy guitar riff, which follows your throughout the track.
At first, the track might seem minimalistic, but the deeper you'll dive, the more layers and details you'll find.

Kat's vocals lead the track with confidence, maturity and such clarity - and even though the song is such complex piece of music, it's definitely the lead vocals that shape the track into the gripping, grabbing and exciting song.

The backing vocals underline the finess and graceful elements of "Bad Behaviour" and give it that final glow.

Video Of The Day: "Mr. Big" by dePresno

Hey guys!

I don't want to be that person, but I think Summer has left us.

At least in my neck of the woods, it's been pretty Autumn-like and actually really freezing these past few days.
That can be super exciting and I love getting my Autumn playlists ready, sipping a cup of tea.

But sometimes you just miss Summer.
And for me, the best way to remember the warmer months, is to put on a song that sounds just like a late Summer night.

Of course, as always, I'm here to share it with you.

- Video Of The Day -
"Mr. Big" by dePresno

dePresno is a Pop solo artist from Bergen, Norway.

He was gifted his first ever guitar at the young age of four. Ever since dePresno has been growing a huge love for singing and playing music. Under the influence of his family, the young musician grew up listening to Dylan, Cohen, Marley and co.

His shyness made dePresno keep his love for performing to himself most of the time.
However, one of his brothers gifted him a day in a recording studio.
That day he recorded a cover version of Donovan's "Catch The Wind".

Soon things snowballed and dePresno played at festivals, got airplay from multiple radio stations and signed a deal with Sony Music Columbia Germany, which celebrated the release of his latest EP "Forever" last year.

In October we'll be treated with a new EP, but for now we're going to focus on taster "Mr. Big".

"Mr. Big" is one of those tracks, that take your bad mood and turn it around.
It's those funky synths paired with catchy rhythms, that will brighten up your day within seconds.

The lightness of the instrumentation reminds you of what Summer felt like and leaves you with the sweet memories of the warm weather and carefree nights.

dePresno's vocals are, without a doubt, the highlight of the track.
Ever so deep, ever so controlling - in the most charming manner though.
You'll gladly listen to every word he sings, following the storyline.

The song invites you to move, so follow dePresno's lead and shake that booty.

Video Of The Day: "Burning Flame" by The Franklin Electric

Hey guys!

I just remembered how when I started writing this music blog,
all I had in mind, was sharing the music I already loved.

I wanted to find an audience that was excited to find new music.

And somehow I ended up finding new music myself, every single day - it's pretty magical.
Most of the artists and bands I listen to, are those I have been sent via email.

So whilst I keep on finding new music, I'm just going to keep on sharing it with you.
And I thoroughly hope you enjoy!

- Video Of The Day -
"Burning Flame" by The Franklin Electric

The Franklin Electric are a four-piece from Montreal, Canada.
The band's sound mixes Alternative with Folk and sprinkles of Pop.

It all started when The Franklin Electric won a Nashville songwriting competition against 8000 other bands from all around the world.
Soon enough they were opening for Ben Howard, Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, and many more.
The four musicians have played over 180 shows in 2015 - from Canada to Australia, including three European tours.

With the signature element being the trumpet, live show audiences are always in for a surprise - and a treat.

The Franklin Electric are:
Jon Matte
Martin Desrosby
Ken Pressé
Adam Passalacqua

Their debut "This Is How I Let You Down" won over critics and fans from all over the world and has allowed the band to build a loyal fanbase.
"Blue Ceilings", the band's second album, dropped earlier this year and took things to another level.

Last month they released a music video for "Burning Flame" and it's fantastic!

The combination of soulful, bluesy vocals, stunning harmonies, folk percussions, supportive basslines, highlighting guitar chords and a hypnotizing melody - it just works.

There is not one disapointing element in the song - in fact, it's so beautiful, you might question if it's actually real.

Here's what Jon says about the song and video:
"This was a spontaneous last minute addition to the record about the fire that feeds us and brings us to do all the things we do, or ignore the things we don't do but wish we had. A voice inside most of us that can easily be ignored but the burn is a constant reminder.
This video was all about the casting. I walked in the day of the shoot and met George, who plays the main role in this music video.
He is the most endearing, honest, pure, yet driven 17 year old kid I have ever met. From that moment  I was sold on the director's story& concept.
I invite you to meet George for yourself."

Video Of The Day: "Breathing" by dePresno

Hey guys!

In our new series, "7 songs", we celebrate those different emotions which are caused by music.
So many songs have the power to make us smile, cry or feel nostalgic.

And it's a lot of fun to think of those songs from the perspective of the listener - because you get to figure out what a song means to you.

But we tend to forget that those artists who wrote those songs, also feel certain emotions and connect them to those tracks.
Some might be written to deal with heartbreak, some might be written out of pure happiness.

And others might be experiments to change things up creatively.

The variety is big and that's what is so exciting.

Today we have a little "Video Of The Day" for you and can't wait for you to see it.

- Video Of The Day -
"Breathing" by dePresno

dePresno is a Pop solo artist from Bergen, Norway.

That day he recorded a cover version of Donovan's "Catch The Wind".

Soon things snowballed and dePresno played at festivals, got airplay from multiple radio stations and signed a deal with Sony Music Columbia Germany, which celebrated the release of his latest EP "Forever" last year.

dePresno is already working on new material and has just released a video for his most recent single "Breathing".

"Breathing" is that kind of song you're going to listen to on a Sunday morning, after you might've had a long Saturday night out.
You might feel a bit exhausted and fragile from the drink of your choice, but you don't regret anything.

It's a relaxed, yet still up-beat track - the dark beats are going to get your head bobbing.
(But don't over-do it or you'll get a headache..)
Modern synths take the lead and guide us through the song, whilst dePresno's voice tells the story in such charming and fantastic way.

His vocals are smooth, yet exciting and powerful. His tone is very warm, but he still makes the high notes sound so effortlessly good.

The video is super entertaining and suits the song so well. You might be able to relate to it, or you'll just have a good time watching it.
