Best Of 2017: a video

Hey guys!

Welcome to part two of our "it's the end of the year, we're so nostalgic" crisis.

Yesterday was all about the photos (and our amazing photographers) while today we are looking back on all things video.

2017 was the year of our 5th birthday, which is something I'll chat more about tomorrow. We got to celebrate it with 25 incredible acts and also shared our rather hilarious outtakes with you.

We had chats with some talented artists and hosted our first ever living room shows - an experience we got to share with you.

This year has also seen the premiere of a new video series, Cover The HITS - personally, that's probably my highlight of the year.

Before I started writing the words you're reading this very second, I told myself to not go to crazy on the cheesy phrases and to let the video be the focus of today.

However, I just need to thank everyone who was involved with house in the sand's YouTube channel this year.
That's everyone who appeared on it - all the Birthday Countdown artists, the interesting people we had chats with, our new Cover The HITS crew and of course the fabulous acts who played their songs for us.

But also - guys, thank you for just hanging out with us and checking out the videos we share with you.
It's been fun and we're forever grateful for your interest.

So, without further ado, let me present you our Best Of 2017 video.
It's one of those videos I'm sure I'll be happy about when I'm 80 and reflect on the fun I've had with house in the sand.

Day 27: Birthday Wishes | #HITSBC17

Hey guys!

And so it's day 27 of our Birthday Countdown.
That's just mad. I can't believe how quickly time flies when you're spending one month celebrating.

I would like to use today's post to thank all the fantastic people involved in this countdown.

This lineup was an absolute dream and every single act was a pleasure to work with.
Every year, when I start inviting people, I get a little paranoid, thinking that maybe nobody wants to join.

But of course we always find some of the most wonderful artists who are excited to be a part and that means the world to me.

Today we have another little Best Of video for you, this time focusing on the birthday wishes.
It's such a wonderful feeling to watch those clips because it makes this website a lot more personal.

It's just so beautiful to see how everyone took the time to film a video for us and I know that a lot of thought was put into it, and that just makes me incredibly happy.

The fact that a lot of musicians appreciate what we do on house in the sand, is something I could never take for granted.

So before we dive into the video, I would like to say a massive thank you to all artists, managers and labels involved. You have made this countdown so special and you keep on proving that we need to unite in this industry.
I adore all of you!

Day 26: Best Of Performances | #HITSBC17

Hey guys!

So, as I've already mentioned yesterday, we are through with all performances of our Birthday Countdown this year.

This month we have seen 25 fantastic performances and I am super proud of the entire lineup.

After hosting multiple countdowns before, of course my expectations were very high. I picked those acts with a lot of thought and it really wasn't the easiest task.

There were a few points I wanted to make and, just in case they haven't been that clear, I wanted to list them for you below:

- equality: I wanted more ladies involved. Yes, feminism is something we need to discuss in the music industry. It's not that we need more ladies involved (even though that would be great), it's just that we need to give them the power they deserve. And that's why I made sure to invite as many ladies as possible.

- variety: It happens to all of us; we get so comfortable listening to the genres we know we love, that we forget to broaden our horizons by listening to something else. And that's why I made sure to find a few more artists whose sound we might not be familiar with.

- new faces: It would've been easy to just ask all the artists who have been involved before, to play for us again. But I was determined to find and invite acts we haven't seen before on house in the sand. In the end we've had a great mix of new faces and old friends.

- old friends: I feel like this is what HITS secretly stands for. Some of the artists featured have been with us for five years, others joined us along the way. However, I am so happy that I get to work with people I adore artistically and personally, that's definitely a massive bonus.


I think we've all done a brilliant job and deserve a little bit more attention.

So, today I'm super excited to share this little "Best Of" video with you, which includes short snippets of all videos we got to see.
You can either use it to catch up on the videos or to refreshen your memory in case you missed checking out any of the acts.
