Day 6: Alex Stockley | #HITSBC16

Hey guys!

It's day 6 and I am honestly over the moon.
Yesterday I gave a shoutout to all the wonderful readers who keep sharing this project,
but today I want to say a massive thank you to the artists involved.

This wouldn't work without all the talented people who recorded a video and have been such a pleasure to work with.

What is #HITSBC16?
HITSBC16 stands for house in the sand's Birthday Countdown 2016.
Throughout the entire month of February, we will be celebrating this website's fourth birthday.
One artist/band a day is going to wish us a happy birthday and then perform a song exclusively for this sweet occasion.

Who is performing today?
Alex Stockley.
He is musician and producer originally from Ipswich, now based in beautiful London, England.

His sound is influenced by other Brits such as Tom Odell and Ed Sheeran, yet he also gets inspiration from acts from the other side of the pond, Bruno Mars for example.

So you could genrefy him as a pop singer/songwriter.

Alex' sound is one of the most refreshing sounds in the pop world right now. His producer skills are on point and so it's no wonder he's got quite a few projects going on. En Masse is his most recent band project, he'll tell you more about it in the video.

What is special about this video?
It's incredibly honest and heartfelt. And I guess there's nothing greater about music than that; as a listener you want something you can relate to and something you know the artist knows about. And ladies and gents, Alex delivers just that.

Song Of The Day: "Dapper" by Alex Stockley

 

Hey guys!

I do love those "Song Of The Day" posts a lot.  

They are simple and they manage something, we often just fail to do in life - they focus on the one main thing; in this case a song, a song which should be heard.  

I just love the feeling of being introduced to a song, listening to it, absolutely enjoying it and then being able to share it with a fantastic audience. 

Today's song of the day is by an artists I'm sure a lot of you will remember as he's been featured a couple of times before.

Just a few days ago he released a new song called "Dapper" and I just really need to share this with you.

The song is super energetic and grabs your attention right away.
It's a fun, danceable track thanks to the incredibly funky and fun bass line which is very present throughout the entire song.

Alex Stockley's vocals are on point for this song; they vary from strong to soft and high back to slightly raspy and very controlling.
Another part that stands out is the fantastic use of backing vocals, they drive the light atmosphere of the song, yet they manage to give it a bit more grip.

I honestly can't stress enough how you really need to hear this!

Video Of The Day: 'Satellites' by Alex Stockley

Hey guys!

Recently I had a really nice conversation with an old friend. He asked me how I choose the artists I feature on house in the sand.
It was quite easy to answer that question: I choose artists and bands I belive in. Those who, of course, have talent but also have tons of passion and love for what they do.
Those who work hard towards their dreams.

He released his music video for 'Satellites' and I absolutely enjoyed watching it.
The song itself is fantastic and the video just underlines and compliments it perfectly.
