Hey guys!

I can't remember ever being more excited about anything I've worked on, than I am about house in the sand.
It's one of the best feelings to watch this website grow.

Of course, this wouldn't be as dynamic without the fantastic photographers who have decided to join us.
Gina from New York recently went to photograph Bastille (who doesn't love them?) and The 1975 who played at the Pandora Holiday Showcase 2016.

Act #1: Bastille



Bastille are a four piece band from London, UK.
They play a mixture of Alternative and Indie-Rock with Electronic elements.

Bastille, named after Bastille Day which France celebrates on July 14th, started as singer Dan's solo project back in 2010. It soon turned into the band outfit which consists of:
Dan Smith
Kyle Simmons
Will Farquason
Chris Wood

After releasing their debut single and EP themselves, the band got signed by EMI.
The attention they got from their releases, soon led to support slot, as well as slots at festivals such as England's Glastonbury.

With their second album, "Wild World", Bastille have proven that they are here to stay and create more fantastic music.

Act #2: The 1975




The 1975 are an indie-rock band from Manchester, UK.
They formed in 2002 and started out as a cover punk band at school.

Over the years the band has created their own sound for which their fans love them.

The band:
Matthew Healy (vocals, guitar)
George Daniel (drums)
Adam Hann (guitar)
Ross Macdonald (bass)

The 1975 got signed by the label Dirty Hit in 2012 and released their debut EP.
In 2013 things started to snowball and soon the band entered the charts with single "Chocolate".

So far they have released:

IV (2013)

Albums: The 1975 (2013)
I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It (2016)

Going from strength to strength, it's no surprise the band is taking over.

Album Review: "Wild World" by Bastille

Hey guys!

Every now and then some friends ask me, if I prefer working with new and unknown acts or famous acts.
And all I can say is, I don't have a preference.

I enjoy working with people who are passionate about their art and that's something that both kinds of artists can be. Doing what I do makes me feel very lucky because I get to meet and work with all these different kinds of people.

And the same counts for what I listen to: just because a band is signed to a major label, doesn't mean I'll love their music.
But it also doesn't mean that I'll hate it.

In my opinion, you have to be open to everything and just love music. 

That's the best way to discover new tunes!

So, let's be open to new music and find out what we think about Bastille's newest album!

Opener "Good Grief" is also the first single the band released off of the album.
It's one of those songs you just know is performed by Bastille. The signature elements are so very present; singer Dan Smith's unique vocals, harmonies, electronic drum pads, groovy basslines and catchy melodies.
An element you'll notice a couple of times throughout the album are dialogue samples from movies.

A track which stands out is "Lethargy".
 It marches straight forward without being too bold. It's a song that offers you twists and turns, yet it flows naturally. It's an up tempo track with a great and determined energy. The instrumentation on this song is so well arranged, you can tell that the band has worked very carefully to make all elements work together.

"Fake It" has a rather dark and mysterious feeling to it.
The synths and the drum pad give it a very electronic vibe which also keep the energy and dynamic of the album alive. It seems to represent Bastille's calmer and more serious side.

To sum it up: With singer Dan's voice being stronger and more flexible than ever, a big part of the record is carried by the fantastic lead and backing vocals the singer and the band have to offer.
But let's not forget about the clever arrangements, the storytelling and relatable lyrics, as well as the fantastic production of the record.
