thank yous 2014

 Hey guys!

This is the last post of 2014. So technically it's a goodbye post.
Another year is over, another 365 days are history.

There were so many moments in 2014 where house in the sand left me speechless. It started when we hit 100 000 visits in May - a milestone I'm still so excited about.

And then, just yesterday, we hit 1 000 000 (I repeat: ONE MILLION) visits. I'm still not over this number. There is going to be a one million special on Friday (2nd January 15).

I could never take these things for granted. That's why I really feel a strong need to just write a few lines about those people who made 2014 special. There are a lot more but the following are very important to me.
I got to work with so many talented and unbelievably supportive musicians this year.

Martin and James and Ryan - the three most supportive Scotsmen I've ever met. You guys have supported HITS from the very beginning and I'm really thankful for that.
Thank you Martin, for recording the fantastic music intro for HITS.
Thank you James, for helping me out with my studies. We got an A!!!
Thank you Ryan, for all the organisation. Without you we would be lost, that's for sure.

Jim Kroft - one of the most inspiring musicians I know. You've also been there from day one of HITS and it makes me proud to know you support this space of web. Thank you for all the positive words.

The Arkanes - oh boy, where do I start? You guys have probably been the most featured band in 2014 and I do not regret a single thing.
Chris, Dylan, Jake & Longy - thank you for adopting me into the band, for all the amazing gigs and the fun backstage. For being the funniest and most wonderful rockers and for involving me in so many band things. I'm so ready to join you guys on stage - my triangle solo is spot on. Spot on.

Dan Dietrich - another supporter from day one. You're one of the kindest guys I know and I'm really glad I was able to visit you this year. Need to do that more often in 2015, especially if there are more gigs at the farm.

Shoot The Rabbit & cat buddy - it certainly is always a pleasure having you on the blog. Thank you for all the support. Can't wait to see what 2015 holds for you.

Ben Barritt & Panic Tree - I absolutely enjoyed filming with you and I'm ridiculously excited for everyone to see what you've got coming up. Thank you for working with me.

Mark Mathews & Chris Stringer for the wonderful support online and for choosing to work with HITS more than just one time. It means a lot!

Nessi from carpe carmina & Ross from 6 Towns Radio - what can I say? You two have been absolutely supportive and your actions have left me speechless and smiling a couple of times. It's such a fantastic feeling being friends with creative people.

Seija - thank you for the help with the new design, the trips to B-town and the fun we had in general.

The fake friends - I didn't expect I'd thank you at some point, but hey - you taught me a few lessons. Those people who pretend to like you but really just want to be friends with musicians are frustrating. But they've helped me to realize what real friendship is. And that's worth a lot, innit?

Mamarazzi - for supporting me no matter what, for driving to gig no matter where and for dealing with me no matter how I've felt. When I say you're the best, I really mean it.

And most importantly:
The readers, followers, likers, viewers - without you none of this would be possible. If you weren't interested in house in the sand there surely wouldn't be a reason to do all of this.
I know probably everyone says this BUT - you are the best readers in the world!

I could go on for hours thanking everyone who's been part of 2014.
But I hope they all know what it means to me.

Thank you for reading, for liking, following, working with me and for being fantastic friends. I can't say it enough - I'm thankful.

Here's to 2015, let's make the most of it. :)

Thank you for reading!

Thank You

Hey guys,

I've got a question: do you mind cheesy people?
Like the ones who get super excited about certain things or are thankful for opportunities and friendships and just always have the need to tell the whole world about it?

If you do mind these people - please click the red [x] in the right corner now because apparently I am such person.

And today I just to take some time to kind of thank you.

See, I constantly feel like I can't thank the people who support house in the sand enough.
Last month exactly 53 356 people visited this very website of mine.
THAT'S CRAZY!

But I am so thankful for that.

On top you see a drawing I just recently received. It show reflects the blog's main features: journalism, photography and the love for music.

2013's thank yous

Hey guys,

I love how at the end of each year everyone is getting quite a bit sentimental. I love that because I'm sentimental all year long and during this time I don't get weird looks for it.

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what to think of 2013.
Personally it wasn't my favourite year because there were lots of downs and rather bad moments but the journalist-y side of my life was quite wonderful.

Being a journalism student and blogger is not the biggest thing in Germany. It seems like most of the people don't have a clue what blogging is and actually everyone who writes can call himself a journalist.

One year house in the sand.

Hey guys,

one year ago I started this blog. (Well actually it was on February 29th ... Really could not have found a better day to start a blog. Really.) So since that day only happens to appear every four years I decided to move this birthday one day forward.
It is crazy to think about how fast this year flew by.

This blog is like a little baby to me so I thought we all need to watch how the little house in the sand grew within this year. And what could be better than a best of to celebrate a birthday? (A cake, I know .. But there is none. Sorry.)

2012 turns into 2013.

Hey guys,

so 2012 is almost over and well .. I've tweeted about it quiet a lot but I just have to say it again - 2012 was the best year of my life so far. It's been a blessing in so many ways.
And since I did a "review" of my year in 2011 (on my tumblr - read here) I decided to do it again.

So 2012 made me realize in which way I want to go. I've known that I wanted to work in the journalism/online/music business for quiet a few years but this year was definitely proofing it.

This blog is probably my highlight.
When I started this blog in February I could not imagine that something that was created because I was bored would turn into something I can't go a day without thinking about.
I never thought that I could be so passionated about my house in the sand. And I never thought so many things would happen because I'm doing this.

Even though there were times where I just wanted to delete it and pretend I never started it, I am so happy that on a boring day in February this thing got started - started to change my life.

Why did it change my life? Because of the opportunities I got, because of the doors that started to open, because of the support I got, because I got to express myself.

The people I met ... goodness. There are so many people I met this year, so many people I got to know better, so many people I could work with and so many people I became friends with.

And there have been quiet a lot wonderful people who supported me. Of course everyone who decided to visit my blog more than once, everyone who ever left a comment, everyone who ever helped me to promote, everyone who send me feedback, everyone who hit the follow button.

I wish I could name everyone and thank everyone personally .. but I definitely can't.
I want to name a few people even though because of their support:

my Mum - she's the reason I get to write concert reviews (my favourite thing about this blog) because she always takes me there. She's the reason I get to do what I love.

Martin and James - you have definitely made 2012 verrry special for me and I'm sure you know why.
Jim Kroft - your support and words helped me so much I can't even express it. You are such an inspiration and I am so happy I got to meet you in 2012.
Ryan McNeil - the man with the plan. The plan and the supportive words and acts.
Dan Dietrich - you are definitely one of the nicest persons I met 2012, thank you for always comforting me with your words.
The Arkanes - without you guys 2012 would have been less funny.
Firmoo.com - thank you for a wonderful collaboration!
My readers - you guys are definitely the best!

(note: thanks to Martin and James, The Arkanes and Ryan McNeil for the interviews!)

Thank you all for showing love, sticking with me through the ups and downs and enjoying what I do. I seriously would love to hug you all .. I that was only possible. :D

I can not wait to take chances, meet new people and enjoy life in 2013. I'm super curious what I will post in exactly one year.

Wishing you all the best for 2013 - let's rock this year together!
