Get To Know: Julian Graham

Hey guys!

You know what gets me excited?
When I speak to people who have the same taste of music.

Sure, every music lovers is fantastic and it's cool to see how different tastes can be- but I really think it's lovely when you find people who like the same music as you.

The musician I'm going to introduce to you today, has a fabulous taste.
But make sure to find out yourself!

Please take the time and get to know Julian Graham!

Who are you?
My name is Julian Graham, I am a singer/songwriter born in Johannesburg (now living and studying in London).
I play the acoustic guitar and sing, but began as a classical trumpet player. After a few years of trumpet, I caught eye of the guitar and it hasn't left my sight since. I've been playing live for a few years and I love it! Nothing better and I'll always learn something every-time I get up and play.

How would you describe your music?
Blues and Rock. Blues-Rock if you will. Although I do most of my shows as a solo acoustic musician.

John Mayer, Noel Gallagher and Jamie Cullum are my biggest influences. I listen to those three at least once a day and I hope it comes across in my songs. I love Mayer's guitar and I think of his playing every-time I play a note, although Noel Gallagher's rock-anthems made a big impact on me (especially in "Music Got Through to the Soldier).
Jamie Cullum made jazz new and cool again, so I take his piano and put it into some of my guitar as well.

What does music mean to you?
It's really an escape. I do have the tendency to overthink and analyse, and so when I play music I'm completely in the moment - I don't think of anything else. I use to have bad anxiety (like, Xanax!) and the more I played the more it went away.

Your guilty pleasure song is?
Now that is a really good question. Been thinking about this one! What contributes as "guilty"?  If it's the notion of me being embarrassed, then it would have to be Avril Lavigne's "Complicated". But if it implies me liking it more than I say I do, then it's definitely Enrique Iglesias (any of his songs, really!).

What have you released so far?
I have just released my debut single called "Music Got Through to the Soldier". It's available on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, Deezer, Tidal and just about anything you can think of! Give it a search under my name, Julian Graham.

What is coming up?

Quite a bit! Going to be busy with radio shows, gigs and releasing more material. I have a few songs coming out this year and am pushing to get some gigs in other parts of Europe as well. If you give me a like on Facebook, or even Instagram, and then tell me where you're from; you'll be assured I will push hard to come play near you!

Song Of The Day: "Under My Spell" by Hey Bulldog

Hey guys!

Sometimes it's all about optimising your work.
Learning more about your craft, finding new ways of doing what you've been doing for a while and diving into your subject even deeper.

That's what I'm currently doing; I'm very focused on taking things to another level and I hope that the results will be visible soon.

Today I've re-worked a familiar feature, the song of the day.
I thoroughly hope you enjoy the slight facelift this segment of HITS got, feel free to let me know.

The band:
Hey Bulldog are a three piece Psychedelic Blues Rock band based in Manchester, UK.
It all started with singer and frontman Rob who recorded the first EP on his own before then turning the project into a full band.

Hey Bulldog are:
Rob Manton (vocals, guitar)
Matt Parry (bass, vocals)
Ben Howarth-Lees (drums)

Over the course of the last couple of years, the band built themselves a loyal fanbase, convinced a lot of critics of the online and radio media world and played tons of gigs and festivals.

The song:
"Under My Spell" catches your attention the second it starts.
With a very straight forward drum beat and an energetic bassline. The guitar riff is just as infectious as the vocals are.
The song invites you to have a good time, yet it's not too "in your face" - the band manages to walk on the fine line between being a lot and being too much.

In one word:
Class!

Check this out!
